SIERRA VILLAGE BEFORE & AFTER — The two upper photos above were taken of the same pond being constructed in 2004-5. The third photo was taken in spring of 2007. Note that the oak trees are still alive. It would have been more desirable, from the arborists tree protection point of view, if there was more distance from the pond to the trees. To better protect the roots from being torn during digging, a two foot deep trench was dug with a power trencher prior to digging the bond with the excavator. Pulling or pushing roots until they break does much more damage to the root system than cutting them cleanly. |

SIMPSON HOUSING SOLUTIONS — Simpson Housing Solutions contracted with HOWELL IT IS to protect oak trees during construction of Sierra Village. Franklin Construction did the grading and OMNI performed the underground work. Quality Landscape Construction, INC. did the landscaping. Dan Howell redesigned QLC’s tree planting plan to meet City of Oroville oak tree mitigation requirements. More than 100 valley oak seedlings were planted to mitigate removal of oaks in roadways and building pads. |
